Oxford North claims another honour with Best Commercial Building win

14/09/2026

Oxford North, the new global innovation district, has won Best Commercial Building of the Year at the OxProp Awards 2026, run by UK Property Forums and held at Keble College on 10th September.

The award recognises development teams delivering science, education and office space that supports the county's Local Plan, generating new income for Oxfordshire. Oxford North was recognised for its role in reshaping how the UK delivers world class innovation space, combining laboratory and office accommodation with genuine public realm and community integration.

Spanning 64 acres, the £1.2 billion development will ultimately deliver up to one million sq ft of laboratory and office space, alongside 480 new homes, a hotel, nursery and three public parks.

Simon Ruck, Managing Director of Oxford North Ventures, said: "This recognition means a great deal to the whole team. Winning this award reflects the scale of ambition behind Oxford North and the effort of everyone who has helped bring it to life. We set out to create a district that would be genuinely part of the city and it's fantastic to see that approach recognised by our peers in Oxfordshire's property industry."

The win follows recent national recognition for Oxford North, which was named the most impactful commercial development at the CoStar Impact Awards. Oxford North has also been shortlisted for numerous other industry awards, reflecting the recognition it continues to attract across the property and construction sectors.

Oxford North is open to the public, with more than 30 co-working and breakout spaces adjacent to Taylors Oxford North café which looks out onto Fallaize Park, a 2.25 acre public green space. The district's 100 seater auditorium can also be booked for events, panel discussions and training days, and has already hosted around 20 events in 2026 so far.

Oxford North caters to the whole science, technology and innovation ecosystem, from start-ups and spinouts through to global giants, offering the full lifecycle of space, from fitted labs and turnkey solutions through to grow-on space and bespoke buildings.
