You're invited to two public events to celebrate the upcoming launch of Oxford North

Oxford North is proud to be hosting two public events as part of the flagship new innovation district's exciting opening this autumn.
The events are part of Oxford North Engage, our art, culture, social value and legacy programme, which is delivered by Contemporary Art Society with IF Oxford Science & Ideas Festival in collaboration with Modern Art Oxford, Creation Theatre and Fusion Arts.
The first event will welcome Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson to celebrate his first permanent UK artwork to be installed in Fallaize Park, our two-acre new public park.
Internationally renowned for art installations that challenge the way we perceive and interact with our environments, Eliasson’s UK projects include The weather project, 2003, which drew two million people to Tate Modern London, Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, 2007 and more recently Lifeworld, 2024, displayed on Piccadilly Circus’ screens with CIRCA.
For this major commission, Eliasson will present Your planetary assembly, 2025.
Consisting of eight glass polyhedrons, the work is inspired by models of the solar system and is reminiscent of the orreries at the University of Oxford’s History of Science Museum.
About the event
'In conversation with Olafur Eliasson' is to be held on Wednesday 1 October 2025 from 6pm to 845pm at 2 Fallaize Street with the artist and Behaviour Change Scientist & Poet Laureate, University College, Oxford Pireeni Sundaralingam.
The evening will also include a piece of bespoke live theatre by Creation Theatre.

The second event is in collaboration with IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival as Oxford North plays host to "Zone One", an hands-on interactive area where people will be invited to take part in experiments and demonstrations, meeting friendly experts and experiencing Your planetary assembly, 2025.

Start your experience in our interactive zone and take a guided journey through the Solar System with a new show from Creation Theatre, launching from Earth on a playful stroll through space.
