Welcome to the future

High quality, sustainable new homes in Oxford, one of the world’s greatest cities, with easy access to amenities and community facilities, along with green and welcoming spaces; this will be a great place to live.

Across Oxford North we will be building 480 new homes, of which a minimum of 35% will be affordable.

The first 317 new homes are now under construction and will be focused on Canalside, south of the A40, and delivered by the award-winning developer Hill Group.

Creating a new community

The homes are designed for young and old, families and singles, all living together in Oxford’s new district.

Initially there’ll be 317 homes ranging from one bedroom apartments to five bedroom family homes.

There will be a mix of both private sale and affordable new homes with 35% affordable tenure of which 80% will be provided as Social Rental homes with a further 20% for Shared Ownership.

Homes designated for social rent will be open for bidding through the choice-based lettings scheme for individuals on the Oxford City Council housing register. For those interested in the shared ownership homes, please visit the OX Place website

Leading by example, these homes will reduce carbon emissions by up to 75% over current regulations.

How? Through a combination of improved building fabric and low and renewable technologies.

The low carbon community

All homes, both flats and houses, will be heated with electricity. There are no gas-heated buildings.

Levels of carbon consumption will be better than national policy requirements by over 70%, so future proofing Canalside for all improvements in national policy.

And because it’s all our future, these energy efficient homes will include air source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels.

Further measures include initiatives to reduce water consumption, electric car charging points and extensive cycle storage.

The new homes are designed around a central landscaped park complete with play areas, meadow grassland, an activity lawn and a network of pedestrian and cycle paths to facilitate the health and wellbeing of the community.

Extensive planting, green and brown roofs and orchard planting including over 200 new trees will significantly enhance the biodiversity of the overall development.
